The Kerala High Court has asked the state government whether it can release at least one installment of arrears of Dearness Allowance (DA) to government employees and teachers.
The court was hearing a plea filed by the Federation of All Employees’ Organizations of Kerala University. The forum claimed that there was no follow-up action from the government despite assurances that the arrears would be distributed in eight installments. She further demanded prompt payment of at least one DA installment.
The government has proposed that the arrears will be settled in installments in the 2026-2027 financial year. The matter was posted for hearing on April 8.
It was reported that DA arrears of government employees were outstanding from 2021 onwards.
