
On Tuesday, the High Court in Kerala ordered the actor to Dulquer Salmaan to turn to the judge under the 1962 Customs Act to seek the interim release of his defender Land Rover.
The vehicle was confiscated by customs officials within the “Numkhor Operation”.
The court ordered the customs department to get within one week of receipt of the DulQuera request within one week.
The luxury SUV was taken into custody after the raid to Dulquer’s residence, carried out under the Numkhor operation – an intervention focused on individuals suspected of tax evasion and illegal imports of vehicles from Bhutan using falsified registrations.
“It is appropriate for the petitioner to approach the court authority, another Commissioner for Customs, Kochi. Under such circumstances, it is ordered that if the petitioner filed a request according to section 110A, it will be the same that the competent authority and the orders approve,” he said.
The court added: “It is further clarified that temporary release is normally the right of provisional release.
What happened to Dulquera Salmaan’s car?
Recently, customs officials have carried out raids in several places across keral, including the homes of actors Dulquer Salmaan and Prithviuranu Sukumaran. During the operation, the authorities confiscated more than 35 luxury vehicles suspected of Bhutan through fraudulent channels.
Among the seized vehicles was Salmaan’s advocate Land Rover from 2004.
On 25 September, Salmaan submitted to the customs office and provided all necessary documents to support his case. However, his request for the release of the vehicle was rejected, which led him to relieve the Supreme Court.
