The Kerala High Court has asked the transport commissioner and the state police chief to take steps to prevent vloggers from taking videos in the driver’s compartment of moving contract trucks and heavy trucks.
He also directed that steps be taken to penalize contract coaches, stage coaches and other motor vehicles that violate such safety norms and violate bus body regulations, posing a threat to the safety of passengers and other road users. The rampant use of such vehicles in public place is evident from promotional videos posted on YouTube and other social media platforms. They are openly violating the safety norms as well as the directions issued by this court in various orders regarding (misuse of) DJ lights, laser lights, multi-color LED lights in the passenger compartment and high powered music systems.
An alternative power source with an inverter and several batteries is also installed inside the luggage compartment of most contract cars, posing a threat to passenger safety, the court said. The matter was brought up for hearing on November 21.
