On Friday, the Kerala High Court dismissed the petition filed by the former Minister of the District District of Thrissur the Communist Party of the India (Marxist) (CPI (M)) MMGESE, which challenged the seizure of Crore 1 income tax by the Bank of India’s Thrissur with a branch.
The income tax department stated that the amount was withdrawn from the party’s bank account, which was operated by Mr. Varghese at the time of Lok Sabha elections. It was found that the necessary KYC documents for the account were not submitted. The account was not mentioned in the revenues of the CPI (M) for the evaluation year 2022-23. In addition, the Bank reported that despite repeated requirements for the wearer of the CPI district committee (M) to provide account information, it was not observed.
The Court said that although the petitioner claimed that the inability to connect the pelvis with the bank account was caused by the default settings by the bank as a result of a typographic error, the materials obtained by the IT Ministry of Prima have indicated that, despite the bank’s requirements since 2010, it has submitted documents on KYC. Subsequently, the Ministry received information that CRORE 1 GBP was withdrawn from the account in February 2024 and 4.81 crore balance. This indicated the existence of unpublished money and required an investigation.
