The High Court in Kerala dismissed the Habeas Corpus petition filed by the 62 -year -old inhabitants of Chennai, who tried to trace his “wife”, which was allegedly detained by several people because of money profit.
The petition was rejected on Monday (August 4, 2025) by the bench of Justices Devan Ramacandran and MB Snehalatha after a 44 -year -old woman appointed in the petition and said she was not in any way or in any danger. She also explained that she had married the petitioner, retired from the electricity council Tamil Nadu, and that she didn’t want to have any relationship with him. In the past, both were “friends”.
The petitioner claimed that he married a woman who was traced on Sunday (August 3, 2025) by the Police in Marada, Kochi, in 2022 after meeting her through the marriage website. In January she traveled from Chennai to Kerala and continued to communicate through WhatsApp by May. On June 6, a person who identified himself as a lawyer allegedly sent a one -off video showing a closed coffin and funeral rituals. Later he was informed that his “wife” died. Subsequently, a woman who claimed to be a nun, contacted the petitioner, confirmed the death of a woman and demanded £ 10.
During the interaction with the court on Monday, the woman admitted that she had organized the funeral scene using the funeral of her aunt to convince the petitioner that she had died to stop “chasing and follow”. The woman said she had never expected the matter to escalate the matter at the level of court proceedings.
The petitioner refuted her statement and claimed that they were “married” in the church and submitted documents to support his claim. He claimed that the whole episode was organized by a woman, in a secret agreement with several of her male friends to cheat over 2 crore 2 and refused to refuse the money he gave her. He added that he had already initiated legal proceedings against the woman and her “accomplices”. In view of the accusation, the court has reserved freedom to monitor the relevant legal remedies concerning monetary claims.
