The Kerala High Court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to ousted Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathila in the rape and forced abortion case against him.
Justice Kauser Edappagath granted relief to the Palakkad MLA on his objection to the Thiruvananthapuram sessions court’s decision denying him anticipatory bail in the case.

Mamkootathil was on bail from 6 December 2025 in the case.
It was the first case of sexual assault registered against the Palakkad MLA, who is accused in two other similar cases.
While he was able to secure protection from arrest in two of the three cases, in the third he was arrested and spent more than two weeks in custody before being granted regular bail.
