
The state plans a mass campaign across the districts to create awareness of Amebic meningoencephalitis and initiate preventive measures.
This year, 41 cases of amém Meningoencephalitis have been reported in the state, and there are currently 18 active cases, Minister of Health Veen George said on Monday. The state government has intensified supervision and preventive measures because cases were reported from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Malappuram. All districts were asked to store adequate drugs for the treatment of infection.
At a high -level meeting, which he presides here, it was decided that the medical department would lead a mass campaign with the help of local self -governing bodies, water resources and Harith Keral missions because amoebic meningoencephalitis is now applying from several districts. The first preventive step would be to clean all water resources in the state, said Mrs. George. The Minister ordered the campaign to participate in all healthcare professionals. Within the framework of preventive measures, all wells and water reservoirs in houses and institutions throughout the state should be cleaned and chlorinated on the 30th and 31th August.
Houses, hospitals, educational institutions, hostels and housing complexes should participate in exercises and ensure that their water tanks are properly cleaned.
Centers, entertainment parks
Centers, water amusement parks and training centers for swimming should ensure chlorination of pools and other water sources and ensure that chlorination levels are adequate. Strict measures will be taken under the Public Health Act against those who do not follow. All drinking water sources will be checked by healthcare workers.
In addition, ponds and other public water points will be cleaned and the channels carrying waste will be closed. Local bodies were asked to remove collected algae and waste from ponds, lakes and other sources. People entering watercourses are recommended to take doxycycline tablets to prevent leptospirosis.
After the holidays, there will be special units in educational institutions to train teachers and students on preventive measures against amoebic meningoencephalitis. The warning boards will be located near ponds and watercourses where amoeba was detected.
