Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar
Leader of the Opposition VD Satheeshan on Monday (March 9, 2026) asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to respond to allegations that the police failed to legally process a distress call from Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar’s wife, Bindu Menon.
Ms Menon, who spoke to reporters on Monday, accused Mr Ganesh Kumar of infidelity and said she caught the minister “in the act with a woman” at his home in Valakom in Kollam district on Saturday (March 7, 2026).
Ms Menon accused the minister’s staff of trying to snatch her mobile phone when she tried to record the alleged act of infidelity and physically restraining her. She claimed that the police response was inadequate and that the officers left without any action, which left her deeply insecure.
Mr Satheesan said he did not want to get involved in a domestic dispute. “However, there is a greater issue of women’s safety at stake. The police did not record the statement of the plaintiff or ensure her safety. They simply retreated and left her alone,” he added.
Mr. Satheesan said that Mr. Vijayan, who had taken an oath for the safety of women, owed an explanation to the public. Mr. Satheesan also rejected Mr. Ganesh Kumar’s allegation that the United Democratic Front (UDF) conspired to spread rumors about him. “Indecent backbiting is not the business of the opposition,” he said.
Resignation sought
Jeby Mather, Member of Parliament, President of Kerala Pradesh Mahila Congress demanded that Mr. Ganesh Kumar be expelled from the Cabinet. The Kerala Students’ Union (KSU) has requested the state police chief to charge Mr. Ganesh Kumar with domestic violence charges.
Political witch hunt: minister
Mr Ganesh Kumar said he was a victim of a political witch-hunt launched by the opposition ahead of the assembly elections. “Such smear campaigns coincide with assembly election cycles in my case. Political rivals have used my family against me in the past. I have survived worse,” he said.
Mr. Ganesh Kumar said that his voters in Pathanapuram have elected him as their MLA for five consecutive terms. “My constituents would be wrong to believe that the scandals would reverse my campaign or cast doubt on my political future,” he said.
