Kerala Budget: Plans to be abandoned, says Binoy Viswam

The revised budget presented by Chief Minister VD Satheesan in the Assembly is a departure from the social policies pursued by the previous Left Democratic Front government, Communist Party of India (CPI) state secretary Binoy Viswam said.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Viswam said that an attempt was made to create an impression that the state was in a debt trap with this intention.

The advice in the budget regarding the changes proposed for the State Planning Board made it clear that the planning that was the basis of the Nehruvian economic trajectory would be abandoned, Mr. Viswam said.
