Kerala appoints new special ruler. Supplicant for Devaswom

The state government has appointed KR Sunil as the Special Government Advocate for Devaswom matters before the Kerala High Court.

Mr. Sunil has served as Standing Advisor to the Centre, Malabar Devaswom Committee and Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority, among others. He is also the state general secretary of the Indian Lawyers Congress.

Recently, the government’s previous special pleader for Devaswa resigned amid allegations that he represented Smart Creations, a Chennai-based firm allegedly involved in the Sabarimala gold theft scam. KB Pradeep was appointed Special Representative of the Government on 11 June 2026 and had to resign two days later on 13 June 2026.
