Chairman of Kannada Development Authority (KDA) Purushotham Bilimale demanded that the state government should first carry out a new proposed state education policy (SEP).
In a letter written to the main minister Siddaramaiaha and the ministers of the Education of the State, he stated that the SEP Commission provided “very comprehensive” educational policy in the first exercise. “If the report is properly implemented, the state education sector will change radically in the next decade,” he said.
He also stated that several studies have confirmed that the three language formula forcibly deposits Hindi and does not help to improve the cognitive and academic ability of students. “In this context, the SEP report that recommended a policy of two languages with Cannada and English for the state, a very timely step,” said prof. Bilimale.
“It is important to realize that the Commission did not ignore the non-kannada and non-English languages, while recommending a policy of two languages.
“SEP recommendations are mainly based on the Indian Constitution, the Comprehensive Development Act, Cannada, 2022, the right of children to free and compulsory education, the Kannada Teaching Act and all aspects of the 1968, 1986, 1992 and 2020 education policy, among others, among other police and laws.
