AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC in-charge of Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC President Mahesh Goud and AICC Secretary Vamshichand Reddy in New Delhi on Saturday (October 25, 2025).
The Congress high command on Saturday (October 25) held a series of crucial discussions with Telangana leaders focusing on key issues related to the state, including the recent controversies surrounding ministers, the upcoming Jubilee Hills and local body elections.
AICC general secretary (organization) KC Venugopal’s meetings were primarily called to finalize the names of District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents, but also turned into a broader overview of political developments in Telangana.
Mr. Venugopal held one-on-one meetings with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Gouda, during which each of the leaders expressed their views on short-listing candidates for various DCCs and municipal corporations. AICC observers had earlier submitted reports after extensive consultations with local cadres in all districts.
Sources said the AICC will finalize the DCC list after considering the views of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and TPCC chief. However, the meeting also delved into recent controversies involving ministers providing ammunition to opposition parties. The Congress high command is said to have expressed concern over public spats between some ministers, which the opposition has used to allege lack of cohesion in the state cabinet.
The Jubilee Hills by-election, which is seen as a mini-referendum on the performance of the Revanth Reddy government, also figured prominently in the talks. The Chief Minister reportedly apprised Mr. Venugopal of the situation on the ground and expressed confidence that the Congress would sit comfortably.
He is also said to have highlighted the positive public response to the government’s decision to push for 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BC), a move said to have strengthened the party’s position in rural Telangana.
After the meeting, Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka and Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud spoke briefly to the media but refrained from divulging details of the discussions. There was no official word on when the final list of DCC presidents would be announced, although party insiders said the AICC had already reached its conclusion based on reports from observers on the ground.
The CM and other leaders will return to Hyderabad on Sunday.
