The trailer of the highly anticipated Malayalam fantasy film Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer starring Jayasurya was unveiled on Tuesday (March 31, 2026).
Directed by Rojin Thomas and produced by Gokulam Gopalan, the film also stars South Indian actress Anushka Shetty, who made her debut in Malayalam cinema.
Other actors in the ensemble include Prabhudeva, Sanoop San, Sandy, Devika, Niteesh Bharadwaj, Vineeth, Harish Uthaman, Srikanth Murali and Kulprit Yadav.
The trailer boasts stunning visuals set on the big screen.
The film is written by R Ramanand and edited by Rojin. Neil D’Cunha serves as cinematographer while Aji Kuttiyani and Ramprasad handle the art direction of Kathanar.
Based on the stories of Kadamattath Kathanar, a 9th century ordained deacon with magical powers, Kathanar will be released in 15 languages. Its exact release date has not yet been announced.
Jayasurya was last seen in Aadu 3, the penultimate film in the comedy series which is running successfully in theatres.
Kathanar marks Rojin’s fourth directorial venture. His last effort was #Home which was released in 2021.
Anushka was last seen in the 2025 Telugu action crime drama Ghaati.
