When ten girls with the wide eyes from the extreme north of India met their counterparts from the extreme south, it was a moment full of curiosity, miracle and understanding. Ten students from government higher high school, Kothibagg, Srinagar, Kashmir, visited Kozhikode on Monday (October 13) as part of its study tour for a government vocational secondary school for girls, Nákkava. The aim of the visit was to understand the transformation that took place in Nadakkava below the prism (promotion of regional schools to international standards through multiple interventions).
The linked thread between the two schools is the Faisal and Shabana Foundation, which invested ten years ago in the school of Nadakkava and transformed it into one of the best government schools in the country. The Foundation recently launched the Dream School project in Kashmir, with GHSS Kothibagagn being the first institution that developed under it.
The Prism project was launched in GVHSS Nadakkavu in 2012 as an initiative of Dream then Kozhikode North A. Pradeep Kumar, Faisal and Shabana provides technical and financial support. The school received the most modern infrastructure and landscaping for the price of 16 Crore. The project continued to inspire the state government to develop around 1,000 similar schools in Kerala, while the foundation expanded the model to other countries, including Kashmir.
“GHSS KOTHIBAgh is evolving at the price of 20 crore. The first phase to start on October 27, includes the construction of a new high school building, which includes classes from kindergarten to Standard 8. In addition to Mr. Zhoura, two teachers – Maryam Akbar and Humaira Shah – accompanied students from classes 9 and 11 while visiting Kerala.
The group received a traditional welcome in GVHSS Nadakkavu led by the main Gireesh Kumar together with Roshan John, the coordinator of the Faisal and Shaban Foundation and other team members. Students later participated in interactive sessions before visiting government higher high school, Karaparamba and Kozhikode Corporation Office. The mayor of Beea Philip, who served as the director of GVHSS Nátakkavu, also interact with the students of Kashmir.
