Kashmir IGP calls for action against ground operatives, hybrid terrorists

With the arrival of winter in Kashmir, Inspector General of Police Sujit Kumar on Saturday (October 24, 2026) called for “effective action against overground workers (OGWs), hybrid terrorists and other elements inimical to peace and security”.

After reviewing security preparedness and police measures with top officials, Mr. Kumar called for increased intelligence gathering and close monitoring of emerging security issues. He also emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to maintain peace and order.

He also pushed for dynamic checkposts in Kashmir with “effective and intelligence” measures to “ensure minimum inconvenience to the public”.

The terror module has failed

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir police announced that they have busted a cell in north Kashmir’s Bandipora, allegedly linked to the banned Ittihad-ul-Muslimeen and operating under the direction of a Pakistani handler.

“Investigations have revealed suspicious links involving prison coordination, secret meetings to promote separatist ideology and financial transactions. Further investigations are underway,” the police said.
