Kashmir is experiencing its coldest November since 2007, with minimum temperatures dipping below freezing in several places, officials said on Friday (Nov 28, 2025).
Srinagar recorded its coldest night of the season on Thursday (Nov 27, 2025) with the minimum temperature settling at -4.5°C, down from -4.4°C the previous night, officials said.
The city has witnessed a continuous drop in night temperatures in recent days. The night temperature in Srinagar was more than four degrees below the normal for the season, they said.
According to officials, several weather stations across the valley recorded the lowest November night temperatures since 2007. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -4.8 °C on 28 November 2007, while the city’s all-time lowest November temperature was -7.8 °C, recorded in 1934.
Officials said Konibal in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district was the coldest place on record in the valley last night with a minimum temperature of -6 degrees Celsius.
The mercury in Qazigund, the gateway town to the valley, settled at -4.4C and north Kashmir’s Kupwara recorded a minimum temperature of -4.8C.
South Kashmir’s Kokernag recorded a minimum temperature of -1.8°C, Pahalgam tourist resort -5.5°C and Gulmarg ski resort -1.4°C, officials said.
The Meteorological Department has predicted mostly dry weather in Kashmir till December 10 and said there is a possibility of further drop in night temperatures.
