The state government will take a delegation of parliamentarians and other leaders to the Union government to seek permission for the Mahadayi watershed projects, Satish Jarkiholi, public works minister and minister-in-charge of Belagavi district, said in Belagavi on Sunday.
“The Kalasa and Bandori Nala projects are delayed due to non-approval of our application by the National Wildlife Conservation Board. We have already received another permission from the Centre. We have also prepared detailed project reports. However, we cannot start work until the NWB gives its approval. Therefore, we plan to call the Ministry of Forests and Environment to clarify our project proposals,” he said. I plan to lead the delegation of the center for all parts.
Another delegation will go to Maharashtra to request the release of more water from its reservoirs for Krishna. “We have lost about 2.5 to 3.5 tmcft of water due to damage to Gate No. 22 of Hipparagi Barrage. We will soon take a delegation of all parties to Maharashtra and seek to release the water,” he said.
