This year, Karnataka has seen crops damage over 8.60 Lakh hectares (HA) due to excessive precipitation and floods. Main Minister Siddaramaiah will conduct an air survey on Tuesday by floods, after which the government will complete the measure to help, said the Minister of Income Krishna Byre Gowda.
The Minister, who addressed Prespersons here, said that ongoing rains could increase the scope of crop loss. As soon as the soil dries, representatives of the commissioners will conduct joint surveys to assess the full impact. “Through an air survey, the main minister will examine the losses caused by floods and severe precipitation and a relief will be given appropriately,” he said.
Precipitation
While some districts in the state recorded more than 4% of excess of precipitation compared to normal, others received below average rains. District, such as Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir and Raichur, received excessive precipitation between August and September, leading to floods in areas along the rivers Krishna and Bhima, causing extensive loss of crops. However, there were no reports of loss of life. The Minister reported insufficient precipitation this year, the minister said.
For immediate relief, representatives of commissioners have 1,385 crore in their accounts. Temporary measures are introduced for affected families, with approximately 75 relief centers that provide shelter, food and basic supplies of 8,919 people, he said.
The opposition woke up late
The minister ran to opposition and said that BJP leaders have remained quiet and only now are starting to visit the flood affecting areas. “It looks like they just woke up from sleep,” he said.
He answered the question of the BJP announcement that its leaders would visit the affected area on Tuesday, said: “We and our officials have been on Earth for more than a month, working on the protection and relief of people affected by floods and heavy rains. The opposition seems to be awakening.
