The Minister responsible for the NS Boseraju Kodag on Thursday ordered the district administration to present a comprehensive report on rain -related damage in the Karnataka district. He said that the matter would be accepted at a cabinet meeting scheduled for July 2.
Mr. Boseraju spoke with reporters in Harangi after the inspection of the areas affected by the rain and said that Kodag had been under red warning for several days due to constant rain, which caused extensive damage to roads, bridges and houses. “Fortunately, there was no loss of life, thanks to early interim measures,” he said.
The Minister stressed that while Kodag’s precipitation is vital to South Karnataka, the current downpour has led to a serious local destruction. “At the upcoming Karnataka Development Program (KDP), we will assess the extent of damage to houses, roads and infrastructure for immediate measures to help and plan permanent solutions,” he added.
He noted that previously release of auxiliary funds required meeting specific criteria. However, the funds will now be paid on the basis of the actual extent of damage.
“The officers were ordered to submit the report first. Once it is received, it will be discussed with the main minister, the Minister of Income and the Secretary of the Ministry to facilitate the timely assignment of the fund.”
With reference to the closure of the Ramaswamy Kanive bridge, which connects Kushalnagar in Kodag with Periyapatna in Mysur, Mr. Boseraju said that the bridge in coordination with K. Venkatesho, periyapatnatn and minister for animals and seririculture.

At the beginning of the day, the Minister, accompanied by Mantar Gowdou, Mla, several places affected by rain. He looked at the flow of the Cauver River and assessed the damage of the suspended bridge in Kusklagar and assessed another bridge near Rangasamudry. And he visited the damaged house belonging to the local resident Chandrashekhar.
He said that the monsoon arrived unusually soon – at the end of May – this year, which resulted in considerable damage throughout the district. With multiple rain expected over the next two months, he ordered officials to take reasonable preventive measures in areas susceptible to floods.
Mr. Boseraju also assured that the district administration has sufficient funds in his personal deposit account to manage the reaction to disasters and that the compensation has already been divided to those whose houses were damaged. Permanent reconstruction work will begin after the monsoon, he said.
The report on the total rain damage will be submitted to the main minister together with the request for other funds, he added.
During the visit, representatives of the Commissioner Venkat Raja, the CEO of Zilla Panchayat Anand Prakash Meen, police manager K. Ramarajan and other officials were present.
