The Bhadra Dam Officers in the Lakkavalli in Tarikere Taluk from the Chikkamagalur district in Karnataka appealed to people living downstream to stay on the readiness and move to safer places because excessive water could be released.
After heavy rains in the dam basin, the tide increases into the tank. On Friday morning the tide was around 21,982 CUSECS. The dams of the dam could release excess water at any time through the spillway gate.
On Friday morning, the water level in the Bhadra reservoir was 2 139.08 ft against the full tank level of 2,158 feet. Rough storage on Friday was 49.84 TMCft against a rough capacity of 71.54 TMCFT.
The tide to other tanks is also on the rise. The tide of the Linganmakki dam in Sagar Taluk was on Friday 41,036 Cusecs and the water level was 1,789.45 ft against the full level of the tank 1,819,12 feet. Rough storage per day was 72.12 TMCft, compared to a rough capacity of 151.75 TMCFT.
The Hemavathi Halls gate in Gorur, Hassan Taluk, were open to release excess water. On Friday morning there was a tide of 15,712 CUSEC, with a drain was 10,850 CUSECS. Compared to a rough capacity of 37.10 TMCFT was a rough storage on Friday 33.66 TMCFT.
Similarly, the Tung Dam in Gajanur near Shivamogg Taluk was full. The drain on Friday was 68 025 CUSEC, while the tide was 56 926 CUSECS. Shivamogga MLA SN Channabasapp, belonging to BJP, offered a bagin on the river in the city on Friday.
