The Congress retained both Bagalkot and Davangere South Assembly constituencies, according to the Election Commission of India, which declared the results of the two-seat by-election in Karnataka on May 4, 2026.
While Umesh Meti won Bagalkot – the seat held by his late father HY Meti – by a margin of 22,332 votes, Samarth Mallikarjun scripted a victory in Davangere South – won by his late grandfather Shamanur Shivashankarappa four times in a row – by a margin of 5,708 votes.
