In an unprecedented order, the Karnataka High Court ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe what it called a “monumental fraud” in the acquisition of around 50 acres of prime land near the Hebbal flyover 25 years ago in favor of a “non-existent” private entity to set up a tourism project that has yet to see the light of day.
The court delayed the entire acquisition process, which had been upheld by the court in earlier rounds of litigation, stating that the newly discovered “fraud” now in the acquisition process now invalidated all earlier rulings that upheld the acquisition.
