Karnataka approved the initial grant of 125 GBP for five new urban corporations created by the divisions of Bruhhat Bengalur Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Each corporation according to the larger BENGALURU (GBA) will receive the CRORE 25 GBP to manage regular administrative and operating costs until the system for direct tax payments is introduced to its own accounts.
New corporations were established according to the Greater Bengalur Administration Act, 2024 through the government announcement issued on September 2, 2025. These are central corporations, East Corporation, West Corporation, North Corporation and South Corporation. With this restructuring BBMP, it ceased to exist. All its assets, liabilities, officers and employees were transferred to the GBA, which now oversee five corporations, along with the Bengaluru Limited Waste (BSWML) and Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-Sile).
Interim measure
For the financial year 2025-26, the Union Bank account was kept withdrawal from BBMP real estate of about 300 crore. From this reserve, up to five corporations is released as a temporary measure to 25 crore. Companies have already opened their individual bank accounts, but until tax revenues start directly, the Government will publish Karnataka funds from the BBMP account.
In the future, when the remaining BBMP grants are divided between corporations, the government may adjust this preliminary amount, the command said.
The government explained that the grant must only be spent under the rules and with the consent of the relevant administrative officials. She also stated that these grants would be modified during the future division of BBMP funds and that the expenses should be adhered to by the Economic Act of Karnataka, 1958 and all other existing financial laws.
The order was adopted under various parts of the Bengalur Administration Act, 2024. These sections allow the government to take over all the assets and obligations of BBMP and other local authorities in the issue of the final announcement. It also allows the government to temporarily manage these assets and make financial arrangements until new corporations are fully functional.
