On Saturday, the government ordered all its schools to introduce a “mobile system of artificial intelligence (AI) controlled by the AI attendant system) in all its schools and supported institutions throughout the state.
“It is expected to provide accurate everyday records of schoolchildren, identify absence and ensure transparency in the implementation of students focused on students,” the order said.
The government has developed a separate mobile application for this system and included all information about student systems of students.
This attendance system will be implemented from the academic year 2025-26. The software application and the data of this project will soon be hosted in the State of Date from the Karnataka State, Vikaas Jeska.
School coverage
A total of 52,686 schools will be included in this program, of which 46,460 governments and 6,226 assistance and a total of 52,55,738 students can be monitored.
The number of students in government schools is estimated at 40 74 525 and students in schools at 11.81 213.
This system identifies students’s face data in real time and uses an advanced vector motor to recognize the face. The captured picture of the student will be encrypted into a unique ID via the mobile application and the picture cannot be reverse to the reconstruction of the captured picture and ensure maximum privacy and security.
The facial recognition system will also help monitor the number of students who benefit from government programs such as egg distribution, noon meal, shoes and socks.
In order to assess its effectiveness, the Ministry of Education and literacy carried out a pilot project in the schools of the Uttara Kannada district in 2024. After its success, the department decided to expand the system throughout the state.
Main Minister Siddaramaiah announced in his 16th budget that children’s participation will be monitored as part of the “Nirantara” program based on faces recognition technology.

“Students’ participation at all levels can be obtained in a short time and has been accurate. The shortcomings in the current system records can be repaired and accurate participation can be obtained daily. Exceptional deficiency in participating in any school may be available for surrender or may be available or excess school.”
