
On Monday, the forest department officials captured an elephant in the village of Guddehalla in the Chikkamagalur district. Jumbo reportedly damaged crops in the villages of Panchayat in NR Pura Taluk.
Local people complained to the forest department that the animal was visited by plantations in villages and the crops were forfeited, which caused the farmers losses. According to them, in the last 18 months, incidents with crop damage have been repeated.
With regard to the demand of the people, representatives urged the ECOology and the Environment of Eshwar Khandre to capture an elephant causing difficulty. After obtaining a permit from the Ministry of the animal, six trained elephants in Shivamogg and Dubare in Kodag were brought from Sakrebail.
The ground staff watched the animal to Guddehall early during the day. In the presence of veterinarians, a soothing arrow was released to keep the animal. Later, Jumbo was captured using trained elephants.
