Karnataka Chief Minister has credible information on ‘sting operation’: Deputy CM
Amid Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s claims that the opposition had attempted “sting operations” on him and some of his ministerial colleagues, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Friday said the charge was made based on information received from the intelligence services.
Asked if the allegation was made to divert attention from the drought, the deputy minister told reporters: We have not ignored any issue and we have taken the issue of drought seriously.
Probing the alleged sting operation, Mr. Parameshwara said the Chief Minister would speak about it. “The Chief Minister knows everything and shared as much information with us as was needed.
Congress legislator from Mandya Ganija Ravikumar also defended the chief minister’s claim and said they have proof of a sting operation.
Meanwhile, speculation is rife in party circles about ministers Yathindra Siddaramaiah and BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan visiting Delhi to meet the party’s central leadership, amid intense debate within the party over the chief minister’s allegation of a sting operation.
On Friday, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, in a post, mocked the chief minister’s claim, calling it a “sting against the master of stinging”. BJP state president BY Vijayendra also dared the Chief Minister to reveal the names behind the alleged sting operation.
