
It was found that a native of Karnatak, who previously worked as an official in rural infrastructure of Karnataka rural infrastructure (Kridl) in Koppal, owns 24 houses, about 40 hectares of land and other unanswered assets stand £30 crore.
A man, allegedly identified as Kalacappa Nidagundi, earns merely £15,000 a month, but own real estate, which is behind Crores under his name and on behalf of his family, including his wife and brother.
Scam uncovered by raid
Massive fraud came to light after the raid of Karnataka Lokayukta officials. This operation was part of the wider team intervention about abuse of official positions and accumulation of wealth more than declared sources of income.
According to the NDTV report, the premises of the former official attacked which details of assets in value £30 crore was found, including 24 houses, four land and 40 hectares of agricultural land. He also owned two cars and two two wheels.
In addition to the properties, Nidagundi was also in possession of gold almost £30 Lakh (350 grams) and more than 1.5 kg of silver.
Accusations against a former official
Nidagundi is now accused of embezzling £72 crore. Reportedly, he took help from the former engineer Kridl, Zm Chincholkar to create false accounts for 96 incomplete infrastructure projects.
Ride at Nidagundi sites are the latest of a number of such interventions by Lokayukta officials to reveal disproportionate asset assets.
Corrupt officials under the lens
One of the officers who have been investigated for similar fraud include:

- Anjaneya Murty M, Junior Engineer, Drinking Water Department and Rural Disinnication, Gowribidanur TQ, Chikkoballapur district
As part of these raids, a team of Lokayukta officials, led by CPI Parashuram Kavatagi and under the supervision of Dy SP Pushpalath and PS officer Patil continues to explore documents, cash holding and real estate records.
