Karnaraka Rajyotsava 2026: Bengaluru traffic restrictions, parking rules around Kanteerava Stadium Nov 1 | Today’s news
Karnataka is celebrating the 70th Kannada Rajyotsava on Sunday 1 November. It is among the six states that celebrate their foundation day today. To mark the occasion, Bengaluru police imposed traffic restrictions around the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday.
According to reports, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will attend the state-wide Karnataka Rajyotsava program at the stadium organized by the Department of Public Instruction. More than 20,000 school children are expected to arrive in 300 to 400 school buses, The Hindu reported.
Due to the expected slow traffic and congestion on the roads around the stadium, the police have announced the following measures:
Vehicles coming from Nrupathunga Road and NR Road via Police Corner and HLD Junction towards Richmond Junction and MG Road via Kasturba Road should take a right turn at HLD Junction.
They should then proceed via Hudson Junction and Devanga Junction, turn left towards Mission Road Flyover and proceed to Residency Road.
Vehicles coming from KH Road towards Majestic via Shantinagar, Richmond Circle and RRMR Road should take a left turn at Shantinagar Junction. They should then proceed via Subbaiah Circle and Poornima Junction, turn right at Shivaji Junction and proceed to NR Road, the release added.
Parking will be prohibited on Nrupathunga Road, Seshadri Road, Kasturba Road, Kempegowda Road and RRMR Road.

DK Shivakumar skips protest against INDIA block in Delhi
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday said he will not participate in the INDIA Bloc protest scheduled to be held in Delhi on November 1, citing commitments related to the Kannada Rajyotsava celebration in the state.
However, he said party workers and leaders have been asked to participate in the protest.
Explaining the party’s arrangements for the Kannada Rajyotsava protest and state celebrations, Shivakumar said district ministers and MLAs have been instructed to organize programs and hoist the national flag in their areas.
He said, “There is a protest by our party tomorrow (November 1). We celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava in a special way in our state. Every district minister should hoist the state flag.”
“I have directed MLAs to hold programs wherever they hold celebrations. District ministers should visit their respective constituencies, hoist the flag and inform people about the government’s initiatives. I will not go to Delhi,” Shivakumar said.
“However, I have asked our party workers and leaders to attend the protest. Our party president has informed us that there is some difficulty in traveling by train. Still, all our district presidents and block presidents are going,” added Shivakumar.
“I and the ministers will not be able to attend. Parameshwara’s health is also not good. Instead of Parameshwara, Krishna Byre Gowda will go in his place and hoist the flag. Therefore we all have to stay here,” he added.
