The Karaikal Federation of Government employees urged the Puduchherry administration to immediately pay Anganwadi staff for expenditures outside the pocket created on fuel and vegetables during the financial years of 2023-24 and 2024–25.
“Despite repeated dismissal, the amount spent on Anganwadi staff on basic subjects such as fuel and vegetables was not returned for two years. Many people are financially struggling while continuing to serve their communities,” said M. Sheik Alavudeen, Secretary General of the Federation.
He said that several workers did not receive their salaries for the Moon and forced them to use personal means to prepare meals for children. “It is an unfair delay of these payments, while workers are already facing significant problems,” he said.
The Federation criticized the administration for the fact that despite rising prices it continued to pay out of obsolete and insufficient contributions. He pointed out that limited network connections in rural areas prevent timely updates in the Poshan Tracker application – the reason allegedly quoted for reimbursement.
In his statement, the Federation warned that if the fees were not cleaned, Anganwadi staff would be forced to stop cooking from May 2.
