Kanpur tourist killed, 17 injured in Srisailam Ghat road accident

A 25-year-old tourist from Kanpur was killed and 17 others, including two motorcyclists, were injured after a passenger vehicle hit a motorcycle and overturned on Srisailam Ghat road in Nagarkurnool district on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Aman Gupta. Amarabad Inspector Chandraiah said a group of 16 people from Kanpur had come to visit the temple and were returning when the accident occurred near the Octopus Lookout in Eegalapenta between 9am and 10am.

According to a police officer, the driver of the Trax Toofan vehicle was trying to avoid a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction from Hyderabad when the accident took place. “The driver of the car hit a tree in an attempt to avoid hitting the motorcycle. However, two men on the motorcycle also fell during the impact, causing the tree to fall and the vehicle to overturn,” explained the officer.

Gupta, who was traveling in Toofan, died during treatment. The remaining 15 passengers sustained injuries. Two people on the motorcycle also suffered serious injuries.

The police took the injured to the government hospital in Achampet for treatment and some were taken to a private hospital. The body of the deceased was sent for autopsy. Police said the circumstances leading to the accident are under investigation.
