Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut criticized Uddhav Thackeray after BJP-led Mahayuti won the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

The BMC, which was earlier under the undivided Shiv Sena, demolished Ranaut’s bungalow as early as 2020, so their defeat and her party’s victory is something of a personal victory for Ranaut.

Speaking to NDTV, the actor said, “…for those who abused me, demolished my house, abused me, threatened me to leave Maharashtra, today Maharashtra has left them.”

Regarding the victory of the BJP-Sena combine, actor Manikarkina told the publication, “I am absolutely thrilled with BJP’s landslide victory in the BMC elections in Maharashtra. I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ji and the entire BJP family of Maharashtra s.”

“I am happy that such women-hating mafias, tyrants and nepotistic mafias are being shown their proper place by janta janardan,” she also said.

How did the BMC surveys evolve?

The saffron party won 89 seats in the 227-member BMC, helping it end the three-decade-long dominance of the Thackeray family in the cash-rich civic body.

Its ally, the Shiv Sena won 29 seats, while the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) won 65 seats and the MNS 6 seats. Congress, which fought in alliance with Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), won 24 seats, AIMIM 8, NCP 3, Samajwadi Party 2 and NCP (SP) won only one BMC seat.

How was BJP’s performance in other civic bodies of Maharashtra?

The BJP emerged as the single largest party in Navi Mumbai with 65 seats, Kalyan-Dombivli (50), Mira-Bhayandar (78), Nashik (72), Panvel (55), Pune (119), Pimpri-Chinchwad (84), Solapur (87), Chhatrapati (4102) and Nashik (512)).

The saffron party stunned the Pawars in the Pune polls to win 119 seats, with the Ajit Pawar-led NCP coming second with 27 and its ally the NCP (SP) winning three seats, while the Congress won 15 seats.

In Nagpur’s 151-member civic body, the BJP held on to get 102, while the Congress got just 34.

Nashik saw BJP bag 72 seats, Shiv Sena 26, Shiv Sena (UBT) 15, Congress 3 and NCP 4.

BJP’s winning streak continued in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where it won 57 seats, followed by Shiv Sena with 15, Congress with one, while other SEC-registered parties, especially AIMIM, won 33 seats.
