
Chief coach Rob Walter confirmed that Star Batter and former captain Kane Williamson still want to play the international cricket team for New Zealand’s cricket team, although the exact upcoming tour after Zimbabwe and rejects the central contract for the 2025 season.

Walter, who recently replaced Gary’s Stead as a head coach, added, “I said it repeatedly, still very devoted to black cap and wants to play international cricket. I don’t think it will be too long until we see it.”
Williamson rejected the central contract with the New Zealand cricket for the second year in a row in June 2025. This gives him more freedom to participate in franchise leagues around the world, while still accessible for key international series.
Although Williamson did not bear a full -time contract, he signed an occasional agreement last year and in 2024 he performed in nine out of 13 test matches in New Zealand. During this period he scored over 1,000 runs, showing that he remains one of the most reliable dough of the team.
After Zimbabwe, New Zealand will play the T20i series against Australia and two series of limited series against England in October. At the end of the year they will host western India in all formats.
Williamson resigned as a captain in New Zealand after leaving Black Caps from the World Cup T20 in June 2024, but also played in the Champion trophies earlier in 2024.
“Quality players remain high -quality players and are just working to find a method that will be successful in all formats,” Walter said. “It’s a generation talent, I have no doubt that he will find a way. He probably works through what it actually looks for him personally. But as I said, high -quality players will find a way.”
