
Elaborate arrangements are underway for the upcoming Mahakumbhabhishekam at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri here. The grand spiritual ceremony is expected to draw devotees from across the region and is a major event in the temple’s religious calendar.
Temple president Borra Radhakrishna (Gandhi) and managing director VK Seena Naik visited Kanchi on Friday (February 27) to invite the pontiff to the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham.
During their visit, the temple representatives met seer Shankar Vijayendra Saraswati and offered him padaabhivandanam. They then presented a formal invitation to the Mahakumbhabhishekam and sought his blessings for the successful performance of the ritual. The delegation requested the diviner to attend the event and bless the devotees.
On the occasion, temple honors were conferred on Kanchi Acharya. Officials presented him with the sacred seshavastram of Goddess Durga and temple prasadam as a mark of respect.
Mahakumbhabhishekam is considered a very auspicious ritual that symbolizes spiritual renewal and sanctification of the temple premises. The temple authorities said that elaborate arrangements have been made to conduct the event in a grand and devotional manner.
