Kanaka Durga temple officials are pushing for completion of key works ahead of Shravana Masam

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Shivnath, Endowments Commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan and NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha attended a meeting on the construction of Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada on Friday.

A high-level review meeting was held on Friday to speed up the comprehensive development of the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam at Indrakeeladri Peak and improve facilities for the growing number of devotees visiting the Kanaka Durga temple.

The meeting, which was attended by Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), senior officials of the endowments department, district administration, police and temple authorities, reviewed both the immediate infrastructure work and the long-term development plans.

Immediate priorities include the completion of the Annaprasadam Bhavan and the Prasadam (Laddu Potu) preparation center before the start of Shravana Masam, one of the temple’s busiest pilgrimage seasons. Officials have been directed to complete the remaining works on the war footing to ensure that the facilities are ready for the devotees.

The meeting also reviewed the preparation of a comprehensive master plan to cater to the expected increase in the number of pilgrims in the coming years. Officials emphasized the need to create infrastructure to meet future requirements rather than just address current requirements.

The proposed master plan envisages a multi-level parking complex to ease traffic congestion around the shrine on the hill. The proposal for a second ghat road, which officials said is essential for better traffic management, emergency access and safety of pilgrims during festivals and other peak times, also came under discussion.

Senior officials reviewed the technical and administrative issues delaying the projects and decided to remove obstacles to facilitate their timely implementation.

Foundation Secretary Kannababu, Foundation Commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan, NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha, Vijayawada Deputy Commissioner of Police G. Ramakrishna, Temple Trust Chairman Borra Radhakrishna (Gandhi), Managing Director VK Seena Naik and other senior officials attended the meeting.
