Chief coach Daniel Vettori said that the catch of Kaminda Mendis, who released Dewald Brevis, turned the match for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday, April 25 at Ma Chidambarama.
Sunrisers won five goals and climbed to the eighth place in the Points table in the Premier League (IPL) 2025 with a clean over -1.103. Brevis, who replaced Rachin Ravindra and made his debut CSK, broke one four and four sixes on the way to Quickfire 42 of 25 balls. It was then Mendis’s catch shortened his stay.
Brevis tried to go to the center of Harshala patella, but set out to Mendis, who made a well -assessed catch. Vettori admitted that if Brevis stayed a little more in the middle, Super Kings would help after strengthening the daunting goal to chase SRH.
“I think it’s just an instinct. It is a congenital ability to be able to move, see the ball and the time you dive,” Vettori said at a press conference after the match.
“So it is probably one of those catches that even a brilliant player in the field has only one or two of his career. A special moment from the catch, but more important to us, the moment in the game where Brevis began to control and exert a lot of pressure on us.
“And if he stayed, the score would probably get away and it would be difficult to persecute,” Vettori added.
After Brevis performed, CSK could only score 40 runs of his last 43 balls for less than running-a-míč, ended up at 154 in 19.5 overs. Sunrisers chased the target with eight balls.
Sunrisers will be the next cross with Gujarat Titans led by SHUBMAN GILL (GT) on Friday, May 2, at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.
