
SuperStar Kamal Haasan was sworn on Friday as a deputy Rajya Sabha, which meant the main step on his political journey. The icon of the Tamil cinema composed an oath in Tamil, accepted enthusiastic applause and tables from other deputies.
As PTI states, 69 -year -old founder Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) and an acting political police who spoke to the media people before Parliament, said, “I am very proud and honored.”
The elections of Kamal Haasana to the upper house mean an important milestone on his political journey because he first assumes a national legislative role.
He was nominated to support the ruling alliance led by DMK, which promised him instead of Rajya Sabha in return for support of MNM during the elections of Lok Sabha in 2024.
Kamal Haasan submitted his nomination on 6 June at the Tamil secretariat over the presence of the main Minister MK Stalin, representative of CM Udhayanidhi Stalin and the Allies of DMK, including the leader of VCK Thol. Thirumavalavan, MDMK VAIKO and Congress chief Tamil over Selvaperunthagai.
The candidate requires at least 34 votes to get a place in Rajya Sabha in a 234 -member meeting of Tamil Nadu.
With 158 MLA from the Indian block led by DMK (DMK-133, Congress-17, VCK-4, CPI-2, CPM-2), the alliance was comfortable to locate four seats.
Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) decided not to participate in the elections of Lok Sabha 2024, instead offered full support for the alliance led by DMK in Tamil Nadu. In the elections to the assembly of 2021, MNM gained 2.62 % of the total share in the vote.
On June 12. MNM President Kamal Haasan, together with five others, was elected to Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu. The returning officer of the Subrames on the Secretariat in Chennai issued his electoral certificate.
Five other elected are the poet DMK Salma (Rokkaiah Malik), SR Sivalingam, P Wilson (who enters his second term) and AIADMK is Inbadurai and Dhanapal.
During the ceremony of the certificate distribution, the representative of the main Minister Tamil Nadu was present. (Or)
