The nine-day annual Brahmotsavam at the Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Temple in Srinivasa Mangapuram concluded on Monday with the ‘Chakra Snanam’ ritual at the temple tank.

The TTD created a separate enclosure for VIPs in the tank where local legislator Pulivarthi Nani, his wife and TDP women’s wing leader Pulivarthi Sudha Reddy, TTD special class representative EO V. Varalakshmi and others took a holy dip.

Earlier, the ‘Pallaki Utsavam’ was performed between 6.30 am and 7.30 am where the processional idols of Kalyana Venkateswara and his consort Sridevi and Bhudevi along with the ‘Sudarsana Chakra’ or ‘Chakrathalwar’ idol were taken out in procession.

The ‘Dhwajavarohanam’ ritual was held in the evening when the holy flag hoisted on the first day was formally taken down by the priest (Kankanabhattar) Balaji Rangacharyulu, signaling the end of the nine-day celestial festival.

Food served

During the festival nearly 20,000 devotees were served nearly 10 varieties of ‘Prasadam’ in the temple kitchen. Meanwhile, major days like Garuda Seva, Rathotsavam and Chakra Snanam saw a whopping 25,000 to 30,000 people getting food at the Annaprasadam counter.

While 100 ‘Srivari Sevaks’ (volunteers) served during the festival, the medical wing of TTD extended the services of nearly 1000 devotees. 1,500 devotees received free medicines from SV Ayurvedic Hospital, said a TTD report.
