ALLAMPRABHU Patil, MLA, from the southern constituency of Kalaburagi visited several villages to assess extensive damage to crops caused by two weeks of continuous heavy rainfall. The constant downpour caused confusion on cash crops, including red grams, green gram, black gram and sunflower and farmers left in a state of despair.
On Saturday, the MLA traveled in the villages of Pattan, Bheemalli, Melakund and Savalagi. He personally witnessed devastation and observed red gram crops rotting in fields and pulses such as green gram and black gram germinating in pods standing crops. He spoke deeply concerned with the situation of farmers with many who suffered significant losses due to lightning floods and contaminants.
The farmers shared their anxiety with the MLA and explained that the monsoon crops on which their livelihoods depend were completely destroyed. They were begging for urgent government intervention and compensation.
In response to this, Mla Pedil offered assurances and words of encouragement. He promised farmers to take immediate steps to ensure that the government would provide adequate relief for crop damage.
The MLA was accompanied by Tahsildar Anand Shivanth, agriculture officer Arun Patil and local leaders, including Ismail, Jeevanagi Chandrakant, Santosh Patil Dannur, Ramesh Kanagond Savalagi and Neelakanth and Basvaraj. Other congress leaders, officials and villagers were also present during the visit.
