
The controversy broke out in the Karnataka district in Kalaburagag after the inflammatory comments of BJP MLC and the main whip of the opposition in the legislative council, n Ravikumar, focused on the collector of the Fauzia Tarannum district. “I do not know whether DC came from Pakistan or there is an IAS officer,” said Ravikumar allegedly.
Notes came in the middle of the ongoing tension related to the recent Chittapur incident.

Ravikumar, who spoke to the protest assembly organized by the BJP as part of the “Kalaburagi Chalo” campaign, accused the district administration of influencing the government of Congress. He asked the independence of the district collector and made a derogatory and social hint by suggested that she could “come from Pakistan”.
Ravikumar said: “The Kalaburagi DC office also lost its independence. Madam DC also listens to what they say (Congress). I don’t know if DC came from Pakistan or there is an IAS officer.” His comments were caused by extensive convictions from groups of civil society and progressive organizations that demanded negotiations against his “offensive and municipal” language.

Fauzia Tarannum, the current district collector of Kalaburagi, serves under the state government led by Congress. Although she did not directly participate in the political dispute, her role of the administrative leader of the district came under intensive control in the middle of an increased political climate.
The BJP protest was organized to demand the removal of the Minister of Karnatak Priyank Kharge from the state cabinet. This is followed by incident 21st May in Chittapur, Kharge’s election district, where Congress staff reportedly siege the leader of the housing of the guest house in the legislative Council of Chalavadi Narayanswamy.
Congress’s reaction
Minister Karnataka Priyank Kharge killed Ravikumar for his remark and called her “very disgusting”. He said, “Just look at the BJP leaders across the country and reflects deeply disturbing thinking. To grant such accusations against a recognized officer is unacceptable.”
He also said, “People who talk about their own fellow citizens can even call them real Indians?
Congress leader and State Minister Sharan Prakash Patil has accused BJP unnecessarily evoking the tensions and politicization of the administration. “It is a deliberate attempt to provoke and communicate the atmosphere. Such statements against the officer are fulfilling her duty are unacceptable,” Patil said.
The IAS officers’ Association also condemned the BJP MLC remarks and demanded an unconditional apology from the legislature and urged the authorities to file a case under the relevant legal provisions.
A case filed against BJP MLC
Police Kalaburagi filed a case against the BJP legislator against his recent defamation statement against the representative of Kalaburagagi.
On the basis of a complaint filed by Dattatraya Ikkalaki, President of Kalaburagi Samudaya, the police registered the case against Ravikumar.
The police confirmed that the company includes provisions under the atrocities Act and further investigations are underway.
