Four units of Kaiga (KGS) production operate continuously for more than 500 days on eight occasions and more than 365 days on 19 occasions, setting the Benchmarks for Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPICL).
On Tuesday, Kannada, a Kannada district, spoke of the Kaiga media field program on the NPCil site and reported the authorities about the excellent KGS 1 to 4 units.
The project officer for KGS 3 and 4, K. Chittaranjan, said that the KGS 1 unit created a record continuously for 962 days, which was the longest continuous days of operation worldwide. However, the Darlington-1 unit in Canada has now violated the record with 1,106 days of operation. Among the NPCil operating stations in India, Kaiga units were exceptionally well, he said.
He said that KGS 5 and 6 units were the first among the atomic units for the energy production that NPCil took in the fleet mode, the others are in Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
The Barc work risk leader, Hemant Haldavnekar, reported on a quantum of radiation in various activities and claimed that the level of radiation in the NPCIL units was smaller and the studies indicated that there was no damage to humans, flora and fauna.
The main engineer RAMESH HN said that nuclear energy production units now require a smaller area. The fifth and sixth units in Kaize were built in the 450 MX 450 mA, together created 1,400 MW of energy. “Already 65.91 hectares out of 120 hectares of land on the site of Kaig have been used for four units and the remaining 54.09 hectares of land is available for fifth and sixth units. So a new acquisition is not required for this purpose,” he said.
The authorities also provided information on the CSR initiatives around Kaig, including the construction of school buildings, roads, bridges and the provision of various educational materials to schools.
