Kagiso Rabada (Image credit: BCCI/IPL) NEW DELHI: Kagiso Rabada etched his name into the IPL record books during the Gujarat Titans Qualifier 1 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday.The South African fast bowler became the highest wicket-taker in the Powerplay in a single IPL season after dismissing Venkatesh Iyer during the high-stakes encounter.Rabada lunged at the back around the off stump and Iyer tried an aggressive shot but managed only the top edge. GT captain Shubman Gill, stationed in the middle, sprinted backwards and completed a fine catch.With this breakthrough, Rabada moved past Mohammed Shami who took 17 wickets in the Powerplay during the 2023 IPL season.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans won the toss and decided to bowl first against RCB in Qualifier 1.GT made one change to their playing eleven, bringing in Kulwant Khejroliya in place of Arshad Khan.RCB also made one change, with Jacob Duffy replacing Romario Shepherd.The winner of Qualifier 1 will secure a direct entry into the IPL 2026 finals, while the losing side will get another chance through Qualifier 2.RCB and GT finished first and second in the points table, both ending the league stage with 18 points, separated only by net run rate. The two sides are tied 1-1 in their meetings this season and 4-4 overall in IPL history.One of RCB’s five tableau defeats this season has come against GT, whose bowling attack has troubled them at the start of the tournament. However, the defending champions later avenged this defeat in the reverse fixture.Both the teams are aiming for their second IPL title. While RCB are looking to successfully defend their crown, GT are looking to reclaim the trophy they won in their debut season in 2022.
