The Kdapa Police on Friday (May 15, 2026) issued a strong warning against sharing communally sensitive posts on social media in the wake of the recent incident at Almaspet Circle in Kadapa city.
Superintendent of Police Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke said social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, X/Twitter and Instagram were being used by certain miscreants to spread rumours, fake news, fake videos to incite religious sentiments and disrupt public harmony.
Calling it a “final warning”, he said the cyber crime cell of the district police department is keeping a round-the-clock vigil on all such platforms and will take action against such individuals under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act for promoting enmity between various groups.
