K. Sudhakaran apologizes to Kerala High Court
K. Sudhakaran, MP, tendered an unconditional apology to the Kerala High Court on Monday for his remarks on the High Court bench quashing the single judge verdict ordering a CBI probe into the murder of Youth Congress leader SP Shuhaib.
The apology was made in an affidavit submitted to the High Court in a contempt of court petition filed against him. The petition alleged that Mr. Sudhakaran’s statements amounted to “impeachment of the judiciary”.
Mr Sudhakaran admitted that he had made defamatory remarks against the Kerala High Court in public office, saying the remarks were “purely spur-of-the-moment and impulsive in nature and not the result of a calculated, malicious intent”. He allegedly made the statement while starting a protest march by Congress workers at the Chavakkad police station.
