Delhi Court on Tuesday (July 15, 2025) reserved his order for a member of the Baramulla parliament in Jamm and Kashmir, Sheikh Abdul Rashid aka ‘Engineer’ Rashid, looking for permission to participate in the upcoming monsoon meeting, which began on July 21.
Mr. Rashid was looking for release to fulfill his duty as a deputy. Another meeting of Judge Chander Jit Singh from the court of Patiala House Court reserved an order for a lawsuit.
Mr. Rashid defeated the existing Minister J&K Omar Abdullah in the elections at Lok Sabha 2024.

He defends Aditya Wadhw, Vikhyat Oberoi and Nishita Gupt, promoted Mr. Rashid. The advisor said that Mr. Rashid should be granted a provisional deposit or alternatively permitted to visit Parliament in custody (be a prisoner) without being required to carry potentially essential travel costs because he tried to visit parliament as a public duty and not in his personal capacity.
The petitioner stated that the court court granted him the interim bail of September 10, 2024 for the campaign for the elections to the J&K assembly, which was prolonged three times. The Delhi High Court allowed him to participate twice twice twice in custody, with video commands issued on February 10 and March 23.
“Therefore, it cannot be considered a security threat,” said Mr. Rashid’s advisor.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) opposed the action and stated that the temporary deposit should not be awarded. The agency also stated that Mr. Rashid should pay for his own travel expenses if he was allowed to visit Parliament in custody.
Mr. Rashid has been imprisoned in Tihar prison since 2019 and has been arrested by the NIA under the Act on Unlawful Activities (Prevention) in the matter of terrorist financing in 2017.
