Hyderabad District Collector Harichandana Dasari issued orders declaring paid leave for offices and institutions in connection with the by-elections to the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency.
According to the order issued on November 7, for all offices and institutions where polling stations and counting centers are set up, by-elections are announced for the day before the election (November 10), on the day of the election (November 11) and on the day of counting the votes (November 14).
Speaking to The Hindu, the Collector said the paid leave applies to government schools and offices that will be used as polling stations or counting centers within the Jubilee Hills constituency. “It’s mostly for schools because teachers will be on polling duty and school or office buildings will be used for voting. The paid leave applies to all offices in that jurisdiction because some employees will also be voters,” she explained.
Collector bars further cleared will remain closed and food service and similar activities will not be allowed near polling stations.
All heads of departments and institutions where polling stations and counting center are set up have been instructed to take necessary measures and implement the orders without deviation.
