“JSW Steel is investing a total of ₹ 1.25 crore in this project – the largest investment in Odisha’s history. The state-of-the-art plant, which will be implemented in two phases, will produce around 24 million tonnes of steel annually. It will also include a 12 million tonnes cement plant, 900 MW power system, Odisha Govt.

“A project that people have been waiting for two decades and which only saw a token foundation two years ago has now been accelerated under the new ‘twin engine’ government,” said Mr Majhi. The Odisha CM said the project is likely to start steel production by 2028.

On the occasion, he highlighted the grounding of various industrial projects. Mr. Majhi mentioned the success of Trimetro Garments in Khordha where production started within a year of laying the foundation.

The Odisha CM said his government has approved 433 projects involving investments worth ₹8.5 crore, which are expected to generate more than 5 lakh jobs.

“So far 148 projects have been completed which have created employment for around 2.37 lakh youth,” said Mr. Majhi.

Describing the event as historic for industrial development, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said that the long cherished dream of the local people has now become a reality due to the decisive and transparent policies of the government.
