VIZIANAGARAM:
The Jana Sena party has intensified its assessment meetings in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts to assess its strength ahead of the local body elections likely to be held in a few months. The party, which won the Nellimarla Assembly seat in the 2024 general elections, hopes to open its account in the municipal elections, ZPTC and MPTC elections in association with its partners like The Telugu Desam Party and Bharatiya Janata Party.
Senior leaders recently met at Saripalli in Vizianagaram district to review the situation at the party level and the potential of enthusiastic leaders who wanted to contest the local body elections. Speaking to The Hindu, YSRCP leader Avanapu Vikram said the clean image of JSP president and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and the development activities of the NDA government would ensure the party decent victories in the Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation and other local body elections. Mr. Vikram, son of former municipal chairman Avanapu Suribabu, said the party had a good network in all the 50 divisions of the Vizianagaram Corporation.
Srikakulam Urban Development Authority Chairman Korikana Ravi Kumar, JSP United Srikakulam District President Pisini Chandramohan, JSP-Etcherla in-charge Syed Vishwaksen and other leaders focused on Srikakulam local body elections.
Mr. Vishwaksen said many former local leaders of Ranasthalam, Etcherla and other mandals were keen to contest the elections.
The party is also focusing on strengthening its coordination with its alliance partner TDP as differences emerged between the leaders of the two parties in places like Nellimarla, Denkada and other places in Vizianagaram district. Nellimarla MLA Lokam Madhavi said that the JSP is trying to have cordial relations with the TDP leaders at the ground level.
