District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Secretary K. Ratna Prasad called for concerted efforts to prevent harassment of women in society. He said that despite the progress in education in modern times, cases of harassment of women still occur frequently.
Addressing an information seminar organized as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women here on Tuesday, Mr. Ratna Prasad said that the action was conducted on the instructions of the National Legal Services Authority (New Delhi) and the Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (Amaravati).
He stressed the need for increased awareness and stricter law enforcement to curb harassment. He highlighted the rise in online harassment and advised women to be cautious while using mobile phones and not to answer calls from unknown numbers or suspicious persons. He urged women to immediately report doubts or concerns to the nearest cyber police station.
Mr. Ratna Prasad also reminded that DLSA provides free legal aid to eligible individuals and that emergency help and advice is available through 15100.
