Now for the last time! John Cena is ready to lace up his boots and don his iconic pants for the last time as he steps into the Capital One Arena in Washington DC to face Gunther in his retirement match. Cena enjoyed a 25-year career in WWE, during which he faced the best in the business.
The Cenation leader has always been a big man for the fanshe fulfilled the wishes of many along the way and was a true ambassador for WWE around the world. Cena said that he he didn’t go out on his own terms and he would continue to wrestle his whole life if he had the chance. However, he said that this would truly be the last time he would wrestle and he would not return.
“I love it (people think I’m coming back) and I’m not knocking them because it’s never happened before,” Cena said.
“Wrestlers don’t retire, so to be the first, it’s going to be a little bit skeptical.
“There’s no way. WrestleMania will come and go, and at that point, unfortunately, people who have an idea in their head don’t get the closure they want. I encourage everyone to lean in — December 13th is my last match in the ring, and you don’t have to believe it, but WrestleManias will come and go and I won’t be active.”
So expect fans to be glued to their TVs as Cena’s iconic theme song hits and he finally makes his way to the ring. But Gunther, his adversary, is no slouch. He is the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history and is also a former World Heavyweight Champion.
So we can expect both men and Cena to riot. The former WWE Champion made sure to give the future of WWE a chance to shine with plenty of NXT talent in action during the event.
So expect Saturday night’s Main Event to be an epic show, with plenty of teary eyes at the end as Cena says his final goodbye to the WWE Universe.
