CPI (m) appointed John Brittas as the leader of her parliamentary party Rajya Sabha. He was a representative of the party leader. The post was released after Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya gave up his position.
Including Mr. Brittas and Mr. Bhattachary, CPI (m) has four members in the upper house.
Mr. Brittas is a member of the Permanent Committee on External Affairs, Public Affairs Committee and Advisory Committee for the IT Ministry.
